Seattle Magazine's 'The Forecast' fashion show held last night at Benaroya Hall featured many of the looks that you would expect out of the Pacific Northwest scene including a plethora of rain boots, parka jackets and infinity scarves, but also featured some unexpected highlights including colorful evening wear by Luly Yang, tailored trench coats with dressmaker details by Lila Getty, a leather mini dress from Snowboard Connection and a sequin embellished chocolate brown Herve Leger dress from David Lawrence.
Seattle mag fashion editor Kate Calamusa spoke about 'The Forecast' theme and reiterated that if you live in the Northwest you have to find a chic way to dress for the elements. For many of us that means embracing layers, finding stylish ways to stay dry in the rain and finding a way to pair a beautiful evening gown with a luxurious coat. The show's main focus was on promoting Seattle-based retailers and designers who work hard to help translate global trends and inspire their clients by infusing a signature Seattle spin on the season's hottest looks. Featured designers and boutiques included Horseshoe, Butch Blum, Snowboard Connection, Baby & Co., David Lawrence, Built for Man, Heilyke and Luly Yang Couture. Terri Morgan of TCM Models directed the fashion show and Swink Style Bar provided hair and make-up for the models. Many of the models sported the fishtail braid, one of the biggest hair trends for spring.
Fashion blogger Alix Rose was in attendance at the show and was tweeting LIVE from the event. (Of course!) Check out her site and follow her on Twitter @AlixRose.
My date for the evening was Lauren Hale of Bonza Bash. You can't see them in this picture but at the event she was wearing a pair of black sequin leggings which paired perfectly with her rock-and-roll Vince Camuto handbag.
Over 50+ looks went down the runway at 'The Forecast' and it was nice to see many familiar faces from TCM Models on the catwalk including Liz, Heather, Marshay and Yuris. It was also refreshing to see the collaboration of so many great retailers and talented designers working together to put the spotlight on Seattle fashion. The show served as a visual reminder to shop local and support the fashion scene in the city!
P.s. - Pics from the event will be posted by the end of the week on Team Photogenic's website.
