Seattle stylist and entrepreneur Margaret Spencer created the DRES system with real women in mind. Feeling frustrated with clothing options on the market that simply didn't fit or enhance women's natural body shapes, Margaret was inspired by her two teenage daughters to design a line of dresses that would fit and flatter women of all shapes and sizes. "One size doesn't fit all. We are all different shapes and I wanted to design a line of dresses that would help inspire confidence in women," says Margaret. The DRES line is made entirely of eco-friendly fabric and manufactured right here in Woodinville, Washington. DRES pieces are tailored to fit four distinct body shapes – Diamond, Ruby, Emerald, and Sapphire (DRES). Each DRES piece is designed to enhance that specific shape. After the initial line of dresses is developed and produced Margaret hopes to expand the collection into additional ready to wear pieces.
“We’ve developed the designs, patterns and samples. Now we need help to crowd-source the first production run!” says Margaret. The company launched their own Kickstarter campaign earlier this month and their goal is to raise $20,000 to get the DRES line into production. 75 backers have supported the cause so far and Margaret hopes that the support will continue to flood in from women right here in Seattle and around the globe. "This is about more than just a dress," says Margaret, "This is about celebrating women and finding clothing that will make them feel more confident in their everyday lives."
